Squash & Badminton

Chartered Physiotherapy in Blackpool, St. Annes, Lytham, Poulton, Cleveleys and Fleetwood

Squash has the highest number of player injuries of any racquet sports, according to research, followed by tennis and badminton. Squash manages to combine intense bursts of speed and co-ordination with pivoting, diving and twisting body movements to reach the ball.

In squash and badminton, injuries can be classed as either traumatic (a sudden injury) or overuse (building up over time). Traumatic injuries normally include shoulder dislocations and falls that cause upper limb strains. Perhaps more interestingly, lower limb injuries (particularly sprained ankles) are twice as common as injuries involving the shoulders, elbows, wrists and spine.
