Rugby is a full contact, high impact sport that can lead to injuries to almost any part of a player’s body. As many as one in four rugby players will be injured in a season, usually from collisions with other players and the ground. Over 40% of rugby injuries are strains or bruising, around 30% are sprains, followed by fractures, dislocations, lacerations and overuse injuries. Ankle sprains are one of the most common injuries we see, making up an estimated 10 to 15% of all injuries. Up to 25% of rugby injuries are thought to be head injuries (including concussions).
