Spinal & Peripheral Strengthening
Chartered Physiotherapy in Blackpool, St. Annes, Lytham, Poulton, Cleveleys and FleetwoodFor an estimated 85% of back pain patients, their pain has no specific medical diagnosis. However, studies have repeatedly shown that people with weak muscle strength or poor overall body conditioning are at a greater risk of developing back pain. That’s where physiotherapy treatments aimed at strengthening the spine and peripheral muscles come in.
How do you strengthen the spine and peripheral muscles?
The aim of any exercises to relieve back pain and improve areas of vulnerability is to strengthen the lower back and abdominal muscles. These muscles include the transversus abdominus (TrA), quadratus lumborum, oblique abdominals, multifidus and erector spinae.
Back pain is one of the most common conditions we treat, and our experienced physiotherapists will use a tailor-made mix of manual therapies, massage, stretches and strengthening exercises. At every stage, we’ll monitor your progress and make changes to fit your changing condition.
