Injury Assessments
Chartered Physiotherapy in Blackpool, St. Annes, Lytham, Poulton, Cleveleys and FleetwoodHow do you assess injuries?
For your first full appointment, we’ll ask you to wear comfortable sports clothing so your physiotherapist can properly assess the affected area. They’ll conduct a full assessment (usually taking 30 minutes). They’ll ask you about the history of your condition and may ask you to perform some movement exercises to help diagnose the root cause of your symptoms, including a physical examination. Once they’re confident in a diagnosis, they’ll explain it to you in simple terms and outline their treatment recommendations. If there’s time, they’ll also try to provide some initial treatment.
The assessment can take different forms depending on your specific condition and aims. For example, for sportspeople looking to make postural improvements or recover from fractures, Functional Movement Screening – a framework for scoring the movements you need to make as part of your sporting or everyday activity – can be useful.
