Assessment & ScreeningChartered Physiotherapy in Blackpool, St. Annes, Lytham, Poulton, Cleveleys and Fleetwood
How we’ll get started
When you’re ready, book in for your first appointment, and we’ll undertake a thorough 30 minute assessment, including musculoskeletal screening. A member of our expert team will put you through a four part process made up of specific tests and procedures so we can get a holistic view of your condition and your goals for treatment or recovery. The four parts are: joint range of movement, flexibility, core strength and functional strength. We’ll work closely with you, asking lots of questions and asking you to move through different exercises so we can pinpoint any previous injuries, areas of inefficiency and deformity to find the root cause.
Both a tool for understanding your current condition, we’ll also use this time to give you some initial advice about preventing further injury and improving your overall physical health. First, we’ll carry out a detailed questionnaire to look at your history, your activities (including any sports and working patterns), and what you want to be able to do. Best suited to those who play sport recreationally or professionally, the screening process will expose areas for improvement as well as showing up current injuries and weaknesses. We can then get to work immediately on a treatment plan, using established techniques and drawing on the extensive sports physio experience of our team.
How to prepare and what to expect
Please come wearing loose, comfortable clothes to allow your physiotherapist to assess you. If there’s time leftover in that initial 30 minute appointment, we’ll also start your treatment and provide some initial advice. Once you have a diagnosis and a recommended treatment plan, your physiotherapist will normally recommend that you book in for a series of appointments, the amount will depend on your injury and its severity.
